“I've never had a bad experience donating blood. Every person I have met working at ConnectLife blood drives has been amazing, caring, and gentle. The time I spend donating is so rewarding, and I wish that more people who haven't donated before - experience it at least once.”
My wife, two kids, and golden retriever are the light of my life. I have O positive blood, and I donate double red cells which means I donate two units of red blood cells during one donation while returning my plasma and platelets.
For work, I am a CNC programmer for a high-end furniture company, and during my free time I enjoy playing hockey and golf and going on hikes/adventures with my family and friends.
What first inspired me to donate blood happened back in college. My lacrosse team had a blood drive and seeing the amount of people showing up to donate really inspired me.
Also, my grandmother received blood before she passed. Thanks to the donations of selfless people, my family was able to be with her longer than expected.
After so many double red cell donations, I still get that nervous feeling every time before donating. But the feeling that I get walking away from the blood donation center or blood drives makes it all worth it. It's one of the best feelings in the world giving back.
