Blood Drive for Ten-Year-Old Battling Leukemia

Liam Lynch at Roswell Park Cancer Center

Ten-year-old Liam Lynch from Wheatfield is battling Leukemia at Oishei Children’s Hospital, for the second time. Three years ago, Liam was diagnosed with Acute T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, and just this past February was diagnosed again with T-cell ALL Leukemia. Throughout his cancer journey Liam has had and will continue to need frequent blood and platelet transfusions.

Liam’s school, Errick Road Elementary, reached to the Lynch Family to see how they could help give back and help in this time of need. A blood drive with ConnectLife seemed like the natural answer.

“Our goal is not only to help support the WNY community, but also bring awareness to the never-ending need for blood and platelets,” said Liz Lynch, Liam’s mom. “Also, donating with ConnectLife ensures all the donated blood stays right here for our local hospitals, especially Oishei Children’s Hospital.”

On March 30, 2023 from 12:00-7:00pm, a “Love for Liam” blood drive will be held at Errick Road Elementary School, 6839 Errick Rd, North Tonawanda. There has been a huge response from the community already and every blood donation appointment has been filled. Liam will continue to need blood throughout his treatment though, so the community is encouraged to donate at future ConnectLife blood drives across WNY.

All of the blood donated to ConnectLife stays local, helping nearly every hospital in WNY’s eight counties maintain safe inventory levels. And for every pint of blood donated, we save the lives of three of our neighbors. ConnectLife needs continued help from the community to ensure that those in need, just like Liam, are helped through blood donation.
