Town of Boston to celebrate 100th blood donation drive with ConnectLife

An exciting month for blood donation in Western New York will include a milestone achievement for one of ConnectLife’s most dedicated community partners. On May 7th, the Town of Boston will hold its 100th blood drive with Western New York’s only community blood bank.

The town held its first drive in 2010 and in the 99 drives since has collected 1,561 units of blood – meaning that donors there have helped save up to 4,653 lives in Western New York! Boston’s drives are popular community events where many regular donors return every eight weeks to do their heroic part in giving neighbors they’ll never meet the gift of life.

“We can’t say enough to thank the Town of Boston and its incredibly dedicated organizer Barbara Moore for the immeasurable impact they have had on their community over the last decade and a half,” said Sarah Diina, Senior Director of Marketing & Community Development at ConnectLife. “They and all of the communities and businesses that host these drives are true heroes – without them, local hospitals could not get the blood they need to save lives every day.”

The milestone drive runs from 2-7pm on Tuesday, May 7th in the town hall community room. ConnectLife and town representatives will be available to talk about the tremendous milestone and the impact of these drives.

ConnectLife is also thanking all donors in the month of May with a pair of flex passes to a Buffalo Bisons game thanks to a partnership with the team. The passes are good for tickets to any Bisons game excluding specially-priced events like the Independence Eve celebration.

“The Bisons are proud to partner with ConnectLife and support their efforts to provide life-saving services to people in need right here in the Western New York community," said Anthony Sprague, Buffalo Bisons General Manager.

All the blood donated to ConnectLife stays local, saving lives at nearly every hospital in WNY’s eight counties. Donors are welcome at centers in Williamsville, West Seneca, and Tonawanda, as well as mobile drives around the area daily.
