My name is Warren Lowe. I am 61 years of age, but approximately one-year old in transplant years.
For nine years, I was on the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) transplant waiting list waiting for a new heart.
On April 24, 2023, I finally received the call to come to the hospital for my long-awaited heart. I would like to thank my donor family for saving my life.
Unfortunately, my wait, as well as others, was extended by high demand verse low supply. During the wait, my relationships with family, friends, and employers…were tremendously challenged.
The demands for organs are steadily rising, so it is imperative that we continue to spread the message that organ donors are needed and that everyone should consider registering their wishes to donate as well. Thank you to the tremendous work of organizations, like ConnectLife, because of them lives are saved on a regular basis.
I am living proof that the miracle of organ donation is a gift that truly keeps on giving.
To the team at ConnectLife and the OPOs around the country - please continue your tireless efforts on the front lines. Your work matters!
My DREAM is not just for a new heart but for all of the positive things I can do with renewed energy. I want to be able to encourage, enlighten, and recreate hope through inspiring testimony and knowledge of life after adversity. - says Warren
